LIDAR INFO PAGE
What exactly is LIDAR? LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Range. It surveys a space by emitting light pulses and calculating the time-of-flight it takes for them to bounce off objects and return to the sensor, with accuracy to within fractions of an inch.
LIDAR is fast, it is accurate and in my opinion one of the best technologies invented for not only surveying spaces but creating 3D images and models of a space or given spaces.
I have surveyed both commercial as well as residential spaces countless times throughout my long career in construction. With LIDAR technology surveys that took me a day or multiple days to do now take me hours. And the fact that I can generate floor plans, CAD backgrounds and 3D models within days rather than a couple of weeks or maybe more speaks to how powerful this technology really is. These facts alone made this a no brainer for me. I knewthat I had to educate myself in this technology to better serve my clients both by saving them money and valuable time by turning over deliverables to them much, much faster than I ever could before.
To the right are some photos of the Tompkins Square Public Library in NYC I recently surveyed for a potential future project. It really is a very cool place with a great vibe. I surveyed (3) floors here and have included a link to the 3D virtual tour so you can see for yourself how amazing LIDAR is. The total footprint surveyed was a little over 9,000 square feet. I did it in 2 1/2 hours. This would have taken me at least a full day in the past.
So, whether you're an architectural firm looking for accurate backgrounds to begin design development on a new project, a residential property owner who needs quick and accurate CAD footprints for your contractor to work from or a real estate professional who needs walkthrough videos and square footage footprints for your real property showcase, please contact me and let's have a conversation.
Tompkins Square Library: 1st Floor
This is the view you get when you first enter in off the street of this very cool space. Majestic round columns from floor to the 17 foot high ceiling above. Open space to the max!
Tompkins Square Library: Open Staircase
If you want a to do a little cardio while your there, rather than use the elevator just walk up this beautiful open staircase. This takes you from the first floor right up to the 3rd floor. This staircase is awesome because it has intermediate landings that allow you to look over the floors. Check it out in the walkthrough link.

3D Tour Information
The link above will lead you to the 3D tour page. Once you arrive there you will see a plan of the floor you are currently on. This floor plan will have green dots. These are the perspective view points. If you move between these various dots you will see the perspective view point change to that spot as if you were actually standing there. You could either rotate the green dot you've chosen or move your curser to the picture itself, left click and hold and you can spin the view 360 degrees from there. Using the scroll wheel will act as a zoom in/out function.
Looking at the bottom right hand corner of the floor plan map shows you what floor you are vewing. This is a drop down menu that will guide you to the other floors. At the very top of the page is a menus bar with drop downs as well including my contact info. Just click on the small person icon to view.
If you happen to like this, drop me a note and let me know.
